Community Care Peterborough Seeks Caregiver Relief Volunteers for New Pilot Project

Community Care Peterborough is launching an exciting new pilot program and is looking for caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic volunteers to help us with this much needed program in our community. In October of 2016,

Community Care Peterborough received a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to pilot a Caregiver Relief Program that aims to reduce the experience of social isolation for family caregivers. Successful caregiver relief volunteer applicants will undergo specialized training and receive extensive support from the coordinator to provide companionship and socialization to care recipients in their home, while their caregiver leaves for a much needed break.

Volunteers will build lasting and meaningful relationships with the caregiver and care recipient while playing an integral role in shaping this new and innovative program. Caregiver relief is a much needed service for family caregivers who are at risk for losing ties to their communities and experiencing ‘burn-out’ due to the challenging and all-encompassing demands of providing full-time care to a loved one. If you are interested in volunteering for this rewarding opportunity, please call Alex at 705-742-7067 to learn more about this opportunity.
